This one feels different.

Since starting Little Magnolia, I have poured my heart into creating clothing for children. Pieces that are practical, thoughtful, and beautiful. But for a long time, there has been another dream sitting quietly in the background. To design something for women.

And now, that dream has become real.

I have just finished my very first women’s dress, and while I am so excited to share it with you, I will be honest. I am also nervous. Because making this dress has felt vulnerable in a way that is new for me.

Why I Made This Dress

As a mum, I have struggled with my wardrobe since having children. My pre-pregnancy clothes do not fit, my style has shifted, and trying to keep up with ever-changing trends just does not feel like me anymore.

But here is the thing. It is not only mums who feel this way. I have spoken to so many women who are tired of clothes that do not flatter, do not last, and do not really feel like them.

That is why I decided to design a dress that works for all of us. A dress that celebrates comfort without compromising on style. One that looks beautiful but also feels effortless to wear.

The Matching Mummy Dress

The result is a timeless piece that is flattering, versatile, and practical.

It features:

A classic round neckline
A fully lined bodice for comfort
Soft flutter sleeves that sit just above the elbow
A gathered midi skirt that moves beautifully
Deep pockets (because pockets make everything better!)
An optional waist tie for versatile styling
A petite midi option so the length works for all heights

Made from Liberty of London cotton lawn or certified organic linen, it feels natural, breathable, and luxurious on the skin.

And if you do want to share the magic with your little one, you can choose a matching mini dress for her too. Perfect for family photos, celebrations, or simply turning an ordinary day into something special.

Why It Feels Vulnerable

Designing for children comes naturally to me. But designing for women, knowing how different we all are in shape, style, and story, felt daunting. I wanted this dress to be more than just “something to wear.” I wanted it to make women feel comfortable, confident, and celebrated.

That is why I put so much care into the details. And it is why sharing this piece feels a little personal. Because it is more than fabric and thread. It is a reflection of the conversations we have had, the struggles we have shared, and the belief that every woman deserves clothes that feel good to live in.

Like everything at Little Magnolia, this dress is handmade to order in Tauranga. It is not about fast fashion or chasing trends. It is about creating pieces that last. Dresses you will reach for again and again, that carry memories, and that can even be passed on.
