Merino:What GSM means

…and why it makes a real difference

GSM stands for ‘Grams Per Square Metre’. It’s a simple way of measuring the weight and thickness of the fabric.

A lower GSM merino will feel light, but lacks warmth. Midweight merino, around 200GSM offers a balance of warmth and breathability. Heavier weight merino is designed for extreme cold. Not all merino is made the same and its the GSM that separates the good merino from the bad.

We are transparent about the GSM of our merino because we believe it truly matters. At Little Magnolia we use 200GSM merino across our range. It’s warm enough for our harsh New Zealand winter, while still remaining soft and comfortable for everyday wear.

Not too heavy, not too thin.

Just right for real life.
